On June 30, 2005, Threshold Sports, LLC announced that it had cancelled the women's race at the San Francisco Grand Prix scheduled for September 4, 2004 due to the loss of title sponsor, T-Mobile. Along with many other teams, McGuire Cycling was understandably disappointed with this announcement. McGuire Cycling is one of the largest San Francisco racing teams and is committed to developing the growth of women in cycling. The San Francisco Grand Prix is a premier cycling event in San Francisco and is a wonderful opportunity to promote women in the sport. Moreover, our elite women's team has been looking forward to this race all year as a way to show off their talents on their home turf. With this in mind, McGuire Cycling has drafted the following resolution requesting that Threshold Sports, LLC, reconsider its decision to cancel the women's race. McGuire Cycling has sent this resolution to Threshold Sports along with Tailwind Sports which is a co-producer of the event. McGuire Cycling encourages everyone to join us in making sure that the Bay Area continues to be a showcase for the greatest cycling in the country and that women are not left out of such a spectacular event. Please contact Laurie Simonson if you would like more information on how to get involved.
