<--Charlie Moore surrounded by four of the six riders in Ireland for the race.

As previously reported (here and here), Charlie Moore has sent a team of five riders, along with their alternate, to compete in the FBD Insurance Ras in Ireland, May 22 - 29.

From the race website...
"The FBD Insurance R?S 8 Day International Cycle Race gets underway from Dublin?s GPO today when a record-breaking field of 200 cyclists from Ireland, Estonia, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, Canada, Netherlands, USA, Britain, Scotland and Wales face the starter in what will be an intriguing battle of stamina, speed and mountain climbing ability before a victor is crowned in the beautiful surrounds of the Phoenix Park on Sunday 29th May."

The riders from McGuire Cycling invited to race in FBD Insurance Ras include riders:

Several riders shared their thoughts before the race:
I'm really excited for this race although I have no frame of reference as to what its actually going to be like. I'd like to do well in either the U23 competition or else maybe the KOM competition. Ideally I'd prefer to go for a high G.C. placing but a top three in the KOM would be awesome. Failing both, a good stage placing would also be nice.

I reckon its gonna be pretty tough, especially when it heads west. The roads are narrow in parts, rolling and sometimes dead. Add the brutal cross winds, line outs for miles on end with big eastern europeans tearing the legs of you.

It all balances up though with the warm welcome the irish hospitality has to offer. I think the main goal for the team is to have every one finish with possibly placing a rider in the top twenty on a few days and hopefully in the overall. I hope it's a hard race. I don't want the lads to ever forget it.
