Freddie Rodriguez, aka Fast Freddie of the Predictor-Lotto team, finished 5th today at the Tour of California (ToC) Stage 1 bringing back memories of his recent visit to our team training camp January 26-28 in Petaluma. As part of our training rides, Freddie scoped out the route for Stage 1 in final preparation for the ToC.

He also spent the day riding, talking, providing coaching advice, and joking around with members of our team. He especially had good advice about the mental training that is important to keep a winning mindset. It was great for the team to get the chance to talk with a Pro rider with lots of experience balancing travel, family and full-time racing. We rode with Freddie in his zone 2 as he did reconnaissance for the Stage 1 route: Out to Highway 1 along the ToC route, up Coleman Valley Road...a tough climb with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.

For his take on the ToC, check out the interview on Pez Cycling by our teammate Todd Kohli.

We wish Freddie all the best on his Tour of California performance!
