The Metromint Women's Cycling team cleaned up at the annual Bay Area Women's Cycling (BAWC) awards ceremony on January 13, 2008. Julie Baird won the Category 4 women's series by a healthy 100 point margin! She sealed the deal on her win of this series at the team's Labor Day race - the Metromint Giro di San Francisco which she won on a daring last lap attack. The Metromint Cycling Women's Category 4 squad also won the overall team competition by a 115 point margin. Also, Laurie Simonson took third place in the Category 3 women's series. After the awards ceremony, local cyclist and Olympic athlete Christine Thorburn spoke about her career and offered tips for the aspiring Olympians in the room.
