METROMINT CYCLING SOLICITS TITLE SPONSOR

September 16, 2015 (San Francisco) – Revolution Racing Team LLC, formerly known as Metromint Cycling p/b The Freewheel, one of Northern California's largest and most successful bicycle racing teams, announced today that it seeks a new title sponsor for 2016 and beyond. The team consists of more than 80 members including two world champions, three national champions and four state champions. The team has been in existence under various sponsorships since 1995 with Metromint (currently owned by Crystal Geyser Water Company) being the title sponsor for the past ten years.

"We are looking for a new title sponsor to share in our success and passion for athletics," said Revolution Racing Team's co­chair and women's squad member, Elisabeth Johnson. "Success and the Revolution Racing Team go together like a wheel and cog." In 2015 alone, the team competed in 100 days of racing and achieved a formidable 62 wins.

Revolution Racing Team is one of the largest and most prominent teams in the area and consists of 50 women and 33 men. Throughout its history, Revolution Racing Team has served as a development team for many professional riders. Under Metromint's sponsorship, eight team members have risen to the professional level including Leah Thomas who will be racing at the 2016 women's world time trial championships and Korina Huizar who won five state championships, has been part of the Olympic Development Team camps and has ridden with the U.S National team domestically and internationally.

Revolution Racing Team is also extremely proud to have as one of its longstanding members Molly Shaffer Van Houweling, who on September 12, 2015, broke the Women’s UCI World Hour Record which had previously stood for 12 years. Molly "the­fastest­woman­in­the­world" Van Houweling also set the U.S. Women's hour record in February 2015. Her record setting rides received significant press attention for the team including articles in Velo (readership of over 62,000) and Bicycling Magazine (circulation of 424,708 as of 2013).

"We are more than a team that just races," said Jeff Wayland, board of directors and men’s squad member. "We are a tight­knit family who believe we serve as ambassadors for our sponsors." Clearly, the team offers a lot to sponsors. "Our team trains every day of the week and has members from Sacramento to Memphis," says Rob Dahl, co­chair and men's squad member. The team trains and races over 29,000 hours a year in prominent team uniforms displaying the sponsors' logos. Revolution Racing Team has raced all over the United States as well as internationally in Canada, Mexico, and South Africa. "We offer sponsors a unique combination of logo recognition and the ability to directly engage with existing and potential customers ­ like mobile interactive billboards," says Dahl. Not only are team members able to interact with potential customers, they can distribute sponsor product, product literature and product coupons and are available for sponsor events such as product launches and trade shows. Additionally, in 2015 the team website has generated 156,484 hits year­to­date. Further, the website is dynamic with frequent updates to results, race reports and action photos of team members displaying the sponsor's logos. Team members also drive unique traffic to sponsors through extensive use of social media.

All of this exposure is accomplished through the hard work of the team. Revolution Racing Team runs like a well­lubed chain, according to women's squad member, Jennie Stark. "We’re a democracy with great leadership and a turn­key operation," she says. The team is self­sufficient and manages its own website and marketing as well as its own product orders featuring the sponsors' logos.
The team also helps organize an annual race in San Francisco held every Labor Day which draws extensive foot traffic and press coverage. The race has been covered by the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner and local television stations including ABC news. Essentially, says Wayland: "Our team brings together all the best athletics has to offer." Metromint will continue to sponsor Revolution Racing Team for the remainder of the 2015 season and the members of Revolution Racing Team would like to thank Metromint for their ten minty years of generous support.
